Universal Children’s Day Conference

On Tuesday, 22nd November 2005, the Church of Scientology International will host a conference at their European Office for Public Affairs and Human Rights in Brussels to commemorate the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.

An estimated 17 million children are being prescribed mind-altering drugs for so-called behavioural disorders despite the growing evidence of their harmful effects, such as suicidal tendencies and aggression. This was the subject of a warning issued last August by the European Commission, decrying this practice.

Tuesday’s conference presents an overview of this and other pressing issues affecting the welfare of children. It also provides a forum for experts and concerned members of government and civil society to discuss effective solutions to these issues.

The conference will take place on Tuesday, 22nd November 2005 from 11.00 - 16.00 at 91 rue de la Loi, 1040 Brussels, Belgium.
